Historical development

The Institut für Schrift- und Urkundenuntersuchung (Institute for Questioned Document Examination) evolved from the former document laboratory of the University of Mannheim, which was affiliated with the Chair of Psychology II.

The institute was founded in 1993 after the retirement of tenured professor Doctor Lothar Michel (died 1996). The association is non-commercial and cooperates with the University of Mannheim.
